May 27th  Spring Classic-Round Perry Race

Whether you are a seasoned vet, or if you have never raced, this is a perfect chance to get out and tune up the boat and sail with our PYC family.  I personally have had so much fun at these races.  The start is setup “Pursuit” style meaning the boats with slower ratings start first and the faster boats start later and try to chase them down. If everyone is able to sail their boat to the best of its ability the hope is we all finish at the same time.  The beauty of this type of race is you generally start pretty close to by yourself, and there is no crowded mark rounding’s or most of the other factors which sailors unfamiliar with racing can find worrisome.  It is just good clean sailing with intention and some of the most fun we have as a club.  From photo finishes, to just spending the day out on the lake with friends, this really is a can’t miss event.   Following this adventure, we will all be back at the club enjoying a “Grill and Chill” social event.  It’s sailboat racing at is finest!

July 15th Pirate Racing Day/Night Race: This event is still in the planning stages, but the idea is a “focus on fun” racing event which will challenge your skills in a fun way. We are thinking about something like a poker run, or possibly another round perry type format.  It is possible this event may move to July 22nd.  We just want to make sure all the cruises have an opportunity to participate in a fun test of sailing skills and we get on the water as a club. I am very open to ideas.

October 14th Fall Classic-Round Perry:

We will be sending off the season in style this October with hopefully the entire club out enjoying a day on the lake using the same pursuit format as the Spring Round Perry.  Bee at the club house for skippers meeting at 10 a.m. and be prepared for first boats to start around 11:00 a.m.  Load your boat with friends and lunch for a great day on the water as we enjoy fun competition, and enjoy the beauty of fall on the lake.  Keep you evening open, as the Chili Cook Off will follow the race that evening.
