Firecracker Regatta!
July 4-6 2025
Firecracker '24 is in the books!
I had so much fun chairing this 8th annual regatta. We had 34 boats registered, a new record for the Firecracker. Congratulations to Ryan Schubert & Amanda Kremer, who trailered their Snipe all the way from Lafayette, Colorado to win the Firecracker Regatta with only 6 points!
Thank you so much to Sara Stevenson Melling, Stacy Rachaner (race committee), Joe Glasgow and Sophia (mark boat operations), Jill Huffmire (registration/tshirts), Tara Howard and Jennessee Pharr (beer/burger operations), Cheri Stratton Sharkey & Bob (shirts, cleaning, and more!), Gary W. Templeton, Doug Butcher, Rich Rokel (building and grounds) Timothy Kelley (snipe wrangler), J Doug Jensen (sportboat wrangler), Ted Lischer (J22 wrangler), Terril Cook (Cruising Class wrangler), Kong Screen Printing (shirts), ProPrint in Topeka (posters), April Sanchez & Dawn Catagnus (cat watchers) and Mary Howe (emotional support / puttin up with my schemes). I am eternally grateful!
I look forward to seeing everyone at Commodore's Cup!

Report:
2023 Firecracker All-Class Open Regatta!

So much fun at last year's Firecracker! Congratulations to Regatta Champions Ron Holm and crew! Thank you SO MUCH to the PYC B.O.G., Jill Huffmire, Cecily Dennis, Sara Melling, Ron Holm, Paul Barnett, Nick Hockman, Derrick Carpenter, Tara Howard, Jack Howard Chris Ross, Bob & Cheri Sharkey, Gina Disidore, April Sanchez, Dawn Catagnus and Kong Screen printing for all your hard work and help running this 7th annual PYC Firecracker! It truly takes a village and I'm always amazed at the cheerful helping hands and sailing community we have at PYC. Huzzah!
Despite a foreboding forecast, and a CRAZY maelstrom Friday night, we still managed to run on schedule and pop off four races Saturday, have a brawling Kareoke party Sat night till 1am, and 2 more races Sunday morning.
As you can see in the photos it was some extremely close competition! I really look forward to seeing y'all at Commodores and to next year's Firecracker!
