Racing at PYC in 2011

2011 PYC Racing Program
Even though it’s cold outside it’s not too early to think racing. Whether
you’re an old salt or a new hand, the 2011 season offers all sailors
opportunities to get involved with the fun and camaraderie of racing.
There are many ways to participate:
Sail in one of the Fun Races or one of our Mini-Regattas
 Enter a Series
Volunteer to help on the Committee Boat
 Enter the Commodore’s Cup Regatta
Sign-up to Crew for an experienced captain
Volunteer to help Organize the Commodore’s Cup
If you want to get involved, or just have a question about racing at PYC,
contact Rear Commodore Matt Gatewood at matt.gatewood@gmail.com
Fun Races
Our 2011 Fun Race schedule offers all the chance to enjoy fun and friendly competition. Whether you want to race your own boat or crew for another, all you need to do is register at the skipper’s meeting.
The 2011 season will offer the traditional Trans Perry and Round Perry
Alone distance races as well as several Fun Races held the mornings on Series Race days. In addition there will be Mini-Regattas held on
Memorial Day weekend and the Fourth of July. A Moonlight Race will
be held in conjunction with the Full Moon Raft Up.
Keel Boat, Multi-hull and Centerboard Series
Series racers compete for the Club Championship as well as fleet trophies. All members are welcome to enter the series program. If you’re interested in racing, but don’t want to race your own boat, consider crewing for one of the Series boats. It’s a great way to learn the ropes.
