Race Committee Seminar
Announcing a Race Committee Seminar March 27, 2010, at the Missouri Yacht Club, R 71, Lake Lotawana, MO, 9 AM to 4 PM presented by Brian Hawboldt from Houston TX.
The day long event will provide valuable information to the average sailor’s understanding of the operation of the race committee. For current race
committee personal, the event will be a refresher course on race committee operation. The instructor is a seasoned race committee chair.
The cost is $20 a person, which includes lunch. Any funds left over after covering expenses will be donated to the MYC youth sailing program. Space is limited so reserve yours early. Reservations close at 6 PM on Friday, March 26th. Send your check in NOW to reserve your space.
Non reserved seating on a ‘space-available’ basis may be available Saturday, March 27th. Late registration will be $25.00 per person.

Governor's Cup scheduled
The 2010 Governor's Cup is tentatively scheduled for 9/17 to 9/19 at Lake Stockton. I would like to find a way to accommodate PYC racers who would like to participate. Please let me know if you would like to participate.
America's Cup action
The 33rd America's Cup was supposed to start Feb. 8 but was postponed due to lack of wind. The first race will now occur Wednesday, Feb. 10. I know I can't wait to see two 90' long, 90' wide multihulls fight for the start.
This is the first time in recent history that the Challenger (BMW-Oracle) and the Defender (Alingi) have not agreed on a Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions (SI). This means the races will be held under the century old Deed of Gifts (DoG) with the NOR and SI being issued unilaterally by the Defender.
The DoG specifies a best of 3 race regatta (in contrast to the best of 5 or 7 that have been employed in past Cups when competitors agreed on an alternate structure). The first race is windward-leeward course with the mark set 20 nm from the start. The second race will be a triangle course with 13 nm legs. If needed, the third race will be the same course as the first.
