Fellow Sailors-

We don't have to remind you that Perry Yacht Club is a GREAT group of people, but remember our members are also potential customers, referrals and local connections for your business! Many of us think of the club as a weekend home away from home, a welcome respite from every day cares and responsibilities. We are enthusiastic about continuing the tradition of sailing on with the new generation of sailors. Perry Lake has earned a reputation as the best place to sail in the region, and you are part of the reason!

Please consider either a donation or advertising for our Commodores Cup 2016 Regatta. You can also take this opportunity to show your support of youth sailing as a family with a personal ad in the Regatta program this year. Any monies we make after expenses go right back into the club’s Youth Sailing Program.

Please consider the following:

First Mate Sponsor Level: $250 Logo on Regatta T-shirt; 1 t-shirt or regatta banquet pass, Full page black & white ad in Regatta program; year-long ad on the PYC website Sponsor page

Crew Sponsor Level: $100 Half-page black & white ad in Regatta program; Year-long ad on the PYC website Sponsor page

Deck Hand Sponsor Level: $50 Quarter page black & white ad in Regatta program; Year-long ad on the PYC website Sponsor page

In addition to, or in lieu of cash donations, we would gladly accept business cards, literature, shopping bags, small giveaway items for our racer’s packets or gift items for our silent auction. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Commodores Cup, our annual Championship Regatta. Sailors have traditionally come from local and surrounding states to sail and race at Perry Lake every Labor Day weekend. On average we have over 30 boats and crew participating in Commodore’s Cup that is held over two days-this year September 3rd and 4th, 2016.

Please let us know if there are any questions regarding our event, sponsorship or donations. Our enthusiastic volunteers would be happy to assist with any regatta information and coordinate pickup of donations or auction items. We look forward to your participation and willingness to support one of the best Youth Sailing programs in the greater Kansas City area!

Club Closing 22 October 2016 – Please join us!

Although the 2016 sailing season is ending, we have a few more opportunities to get together as a community of sailors. Club closing is Saturday, 22 October from 09:00 until 13:00. Please gather at the club around 08:30 so we can assign crews and make announcements for the day. Please wear work cloths and bring gloves, tools, trimmers, and  chainsaws, depending on the activities you plan to accomplish. At 13:00 we will conclude the workday and serve lunch, followed by the fall membership meeting at the clubhouse.  Please RSVP by Wednesday 19 October so that we can get an accurate count for lunch.

Crew activities that are planned:

  • Trim trees and brush and move brush to the burn pile
  • Cut firewood
  • Store the junior sailing boats
  • Pull and winterize the committee boat
  • Winterize the water system on the docks

There are many lakes and marinas for sailors to choose from, but for some reason we call PYC home.  For each of us there is a story of why and how we arrived, and just as important why we stay.

As we look to fill the slips and grow our sailing community, more than any facts or figures, our stories will induce others to visit and to join. For those stories, tell the tales of special place for sailors and their friends, and not just a place to park a boat.

As we prepare for our first major marketing effort this year at the Boat Show, we need your stories to share, to give voice to the great community we call PYC. So please join us at one of three meetings in early January to share a good story, and some midwinter fellowship.

We also know that as members you have concerns and questions. So we want to use these meetings as a way to collect those to inform the plans and budget for the coming year.

Look forward to hearing your PYC Tales – a little salty or not.

Let’s get ready for another great sailing season – and getting together with our PYC Sailing Sisters!  This first meeting is just a get together to share ideas, hone our skills and knowledge.  We will do a little virtual sailing (have you seen ASA’s Sailing Game app?), and renew our knowledge on how we adjust our sails in relation to the wind to get us going. Besides, who better to discuss what events we would like to do this sailing season than us!  This will be fun, no pressure and no yelling, so plan on attending, but do let me know.
