Congratulations, John and Mary
PYC member No. 1 John Gall and Mary Gall celebrated their 50th anniversary at the club on June 22, surrounded by friends and family. It's that time again. Temperatures are edging toward the 90s and members are spending weekends not only on but also in the water.

Summer brings fun and crowds, so take it easy
With warm summer days and nice breezes, PYC members are flocking to Perry Lake to enjoy the club, the sailing and the great outdoors. Many of us bring guests so they can share our wonderful setting, meet our friendly members – and perhaps someday consider joining the club themselves. More means merrier, but remember that more people also means a greater strain on our facilities, whether it’s the kitchen, bathrooms, campgrounds, picnic tables, docks or launching ramps. Because PYC is run by members, we depend on all members to help keep the club in good shape and inviting for all. It’s a good rule to leave things better than you found them. That’s especially true for the kitchen and bathrooms. For instance, if you notice an empty toilet paper bracket, take a second to replace the roll with one of the extras in the stall. If there are no extras, ask around to find where some are. If garbage bins in the clubhouse are full, pitch in and take the bag to the dumpster. Extra bags are in the kitchen under the sink. Trash from the campground and the docks should go directly to the dumpster, and not to the clubhouse bins. If you see trash in the playground area, pick it up. Better yet, encourage your kids to help out. If you use the kitchen, wash the dishes, put them away and clean up. Members should make sure that guests they invite to the campground or to the harbor don’t interfere with the enjoyment of other members. Inviting more than five guests for camping should be avoided on weekends -- especially on busy holiday weekends. The three-day Independence Day weekend is approaching, and the docks, clubhouse and campground will be brimming with people. Courtesy should be the watchword. Fireworks are a big part of the Fourth of July, but please be respectful of others and their property if you want to shoot them off. The club limits personal fireworks to the south side of the lower parking lot from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday, July 4 and July 5 only. Adults: please accompany your children when they’re shooting fireworks and make sure trash is picked up. Got recipes? |
