She Worthy arrives at KC Sailing!

She Worthy is now at Kansas City Sailing awaiting her new rigging!  I feel so relived to have finally gotten this far.  We are truly in the home stretch now, ladies!  Once we get her out to the lake, we have just a little bit more hardware to reattach then she’ll be ready for the water!!!!!!!

When we left Anderson Automotive last night, the sun was hitting her hull and keel.  What a glorious sight!  I think she shed a little tear leaving her home of the last few months at Anderson Automotive.  Thank you John and Teresa and everyone else at Anderson Automotive who had to put up with all the wild women who worked on She Worthy!  Anderson Automotive ROCKS!

She Worthy gets “Decked Out”

She Worthy is getting her “bling” reattached and will soon be ready to be pulled to Kansas City Sailing for her new standing rigging – hopefully on Tuesday.  Any of the deck hardware not attached before she goes will be attached at the lake afterward.  I can’t believe how beautiful she is and am so excited to be this close to seeing her ready for the water!

We owe John Corkil a huge thank you for working on our trailer for us this week.  He has cleverly designed a mechanism so we will be able to remove the keel guides in the future when she needs new bottom paint again.  He has offered lots of valuable tips and advice and even offed to do a bit of welding on the trailer once the boat is splashed.  Thank you John!

There are still little jobs that need to be taken care of so if you have a chance to come work on her at Anderson Automotive on Monday or Tuesday, we could use your help.  Give me a shout and I’ll meet you there with all the tools we might need.

Happy Sails!

Far “Reaching” Support for She Worthy!

The following was submitted by Shelly Smith who has been working hard on our little pink boat.  She is a great addition to Sailin’ Sisters!  Thank you, Shelly!  We look forward to sailing with you!

~~~~~~~~_/)~~~~~~~~~~
Our little Santana 20 has supporters from all around the United States!  Jon Randle, who works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Silver Spring, MD, and a friend of one of the Sailin’ Sisters, has been keeping tabs on her progress.
After seeing her beautiful new paint job, a gift was in the mail.  A pink “Pirate Girl” flag arrived in Kansas City as She Worthy’s good luck charm to ward off evil clouds and light winds, the bane of all sailors.
The flag will be a perfect addition to She Worthy, particularly at our 5th Annual Ladies Only Sail scheduled for July 14th, which has a pirate theme.   We’ll meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. at the clubhouse and then pile on boats and sail the day away.
Thanks Jon!
She’s getting closer and closer!
She Worthy is lookin’ mighty pretty with her new pink hull!  While I was gone, lots of progress was made thanks to Terri Tilford and the team of workers who are hanging in there to the very end!  The deck hardware is going back on and she has one coat of VC17 on her bottom.  We need to finish up attaching the hardware for the standing rigging and finish her bottom then she will be ready to haul to Kansas City Sailing for some new standing rigging.
I hear Doug McCall was instrumental in giving her a nice smooth bottom!  Thank you Doug!  Also many thanks to John and Pat for their help this weekend as well.
We have vowed not to take up any more weekends from John and Teresa but work will progress during the week.  If you have some spare time next week, give me a call and I can meet you out at Anderson Automotive.  Some of the jobs take two people – like mounting deck hardware.  Were are getting very close to being done but still have many little jobs to finish up.  Please come help if you can.
Give me a call at (913) 648-6028 if you can spare an hour or two.  We sure can use your help!  Thanks so much for your support!
‘She Worthy’ is Pink…
…and she looks great!
We didn’t work on her on Sunday, April 22 since the paint needed to dry thoroughly before we start messing around with the top and bottom – to avoid any dings on our beautiful fresh paint.
Watch for post later in the week on next weekends schedule of sanding/painting the bottom and starting on the hardware
Work Party April 21 & 22
Hey everybody.
Joan is taking a much needed break from working on the Santana and will be out of town for the next two weekends. Give her a big hand, she has done a enourmous amount of work and we couldn’t have done it without her. Thank you Joan.
If you ever looked in the back of Joan’s van, you how full it was, well most of it is in my car now, so we still get to work!
 This Saturday April 21st the plan is have Noah come out early and paint the boat. This is dependent on the weather. Right now it looks good, but it can change quickly.  If She Worthy is painted in the morning, there will be no more work on Saturday. If that doesn’t happen, we have bottom paint and hardware to install. We will plan on working from 9am to 3pm if no painting is done. Sunday the 22nd, we will work from 9am to ??.
Tentatively plan on the next weekend April 28th and 29th working from 9am to 3p.
Things may change quickly on Saturday due to the weather and being able to paint or not to paint. If you let me know if you are planning on coming out on Saturday, I can text or call you if the boat has been painted so the trip isn’t wasted. If the boat is not painted, then we can start on hardware and/or bottom paint.
Shoot me an email to say you are in.    Also if there is a last minute change in plans, it’s nice if I can email you to let you know.  Call me or e mail if you have any questions, 913 940 6912, tilford81@aol.com
Everybody is welcome at daybreak on Saturday to watch her get painted!!
And the Winner is…..
Our sweet little Santana 20 is no longer nameless!  All of those wonderful women who put in the time and elbow grease to make her ready for her new life at PYC narrowed down  a long list of names and came up with a good one!
And by a sizable margin, the winner is…  She Worthy!!!
It is a strong, confident name and one we can be proud of!  Thank you all for participating in the naming process.
Next is coming up with the lettering and a possible graphic.  Please let us know if you have ideas and a good place to have it done.
She is scheduled to be painted early next Saturday morning, April 21st, if the weather cooperates.  The official color of the boat is “John Anderson’s Pink Perfection.”  (Guess who was instrumental in choosing a color!)
We are getting closer and closer to a launch date!  Let’s keep up the momentum and “get ‘er done”!
